COURSE DESCRIPTION

Graduates completing all components of the course and demonstrating competence in all units will be awarded a nationally recognised BSB50215 Diploma of Business. A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued where a student has withdrawn but has successfully completed part of the qualification or completes the course but does not demonstrate competency in all units.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This qualification reflects the role of individuals with substantial experience in a range of settings who are seeking to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions. This qualification is also suited to the needs of individuals with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.

The key clients for this course are individuals and corporate enterprises – general and academic within the following categories:

  • Participants who have just completed the HSC and are looking to develop a career in this area, studying part time and working part or full time
  • Participants who are currently working within a business area and are looking to complete this qualification to enhance their career opportunities
  • Small business owners
  • Businesses who are wanting to develop personnel within their business

  • Program coordinators.
  • Up and coming professionals

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will learn how to effectively manage a small business as well as understand how to:

  • Develop an advertising campaign
  • Plan events
  • Manage staff
  • Manage projects
  • Manage personal work priorities

MODE OF DELIVERY

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom based learning environment. This mode of delivery will combine theory-based material and practical tasks. The theory sessions are designed to explain the skills, knowledge and tasks that comprise the Diploma of Leadership and Management.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment will occur through a variety of methods (based on unit assessment plan), that including projects incorporating role-plays, case studies and short answer questions.  Assessment conditions will ensure a simulated workplace environment.

QUALITY OF TRAINING

IBMA is responsible for the quality of the training and assessment being provided in this course and for the issuance of any AQF certificate. The qualification is partially held in a designated classroom for lectures, tutorials and group work.

LANGUAGE LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN)

Students enrolling in this qualification will undertake a LLN test to determine the student’s ability to engage in the course.

UNIVERSITY PATHWAYS

Students wishing to pursue university after completing studies at IBMA can do so in conjunction with various universities and educational institutions.

RESOURCES REQUIREMENT

All students who are undertaking this qualification must have the following resources while in class.

  • A laptop
  • USB flash drive
  • Word processing software, Excel Worksheet software and Power Point Software
  • Recommended Textbooks
  • Internet connection is required (free Wi-Fi available on campus)

Online library facilities are available for students.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)/ CREDIT TRANSFER (CT)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) relates to an individual’s skills and knowledge, irrespective of how it has been acquired. This includes competencies gained through work experience, employment, formal courses and informal training (not accredited) and other life experiences.

Credit transfer relates to formal qualifications or units of competence that you have gained from previous study.

If you wish to apply for RPL or credit, read the detailed information in the Student Handbook and/or talk to us prior to completing the RPL or Credit Transfer Request form.

Students are able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer for any unit within this qualification, not just those listed, as long as the qualification rules are met.

All students are offered access to RPL or Credit Transfer upon enrolment and will be required to complete forms as listed above. There is no cost for awarding credit.  RPL fees are $250 per unit

All information provided in relation to RPL and/or Credit Transfer will be assessed and the student notified of a decision by the college within 21 days. Please keep in mind that we are closed over the Christmas season and do not reopen until mid-January. This fee for RPL is non-refundable regardless of the outcome.
